Re: Asylum of the Daleks
Sep. 2nd, 2012 08:23 pmIn bullet point format, because I am waiting for food om nom nom.
- OSWIN. WHAT. WHAT WAS THAT. I was not expecting Jenna Louise-Coleman to show up so soon, and now I'm really curious as to how she's going to end up as the companion.
- Still not on board the Amy/Rory ship; still not emotionally invested enough in their relationship to do much during the whole reconciliation thing besides a) think it was pretty gross of the Doctor to presume they needed reconciling at all and that it was his job/duty/place to 'fix' them; and b) throw up a little in my mouth at the whole infertility subplot. (Not because I necessarily think it couldn't be a cover for more serious issues, but because I don't particularly trust Moffat to write a female character with that kind of subtlety.)
- I do think it's pretty awesome that they churned out a Dalek story that didn't make me wince. I am not a fan of the Daleks--I think they're overused and underscary. But this was pretty effing cool. ESPECIALLY THE PART ABOUT OSWIN. In short, I think the only dalek episode worth watching is one in which they aren't actually 'proper' daleks for whatever reason.
- I'm kind of stupidly excited for next week's apparent mash-up of "Doctor Who" and "Night at the Museum."

Date: 2012-09-03 02:34 am (UTC)I also hated Amy's assessment of their relationship. Nothing Rory can ever do, or has done will ever measure up to... anything. It's all nothing, and only ever will be nothing to her. And that's very in character for her, which... probably is why I will never be on board that ship.

Date: 2012-09-03 09:47 pm (UTC)I re-watched 'Remembrance of the Daleks' last night, and bloody hell it is 1000X better than Asylum. But I do love McCoy an awful lot, so maybe I'm biased. XD
Dinosaurs are always cool!! Though all of the previews say that there are "too many characters with too little development" which is par for the course in Moffat times.

Date: 2012-09-04 12:48 am (UTC)-I've become less invested in the Amy/Rory ship as the show goes on. It's a shame, because there were times that I really liked them, but devaluing Rory's love in order to set up hers is not cool. Ehhh, I'm still meh about that whole thing.
