Here, have a double-drabble
Jun. 22nd, 2007 01:43 pmMartha loved the Doctor to bits.
He didn't feel the same way, but that didn't stop her from imagining what it might be like if he did. But before she could conjure up any toe-curling fantasies, her brain--ever the stickler for biological accuracy--hit a snag.
She had no idea how Time Lords reproduced.
Sure, he looks human, mused the little voice in her head, but you have no way of knowing how alien his reproductive system might be.
Shut up, Martha told the voice.
It might involve spores.
Shut. Up.
He might try to lay eggs in your eyes. Ever think of that? Dozens--maybe even hundreds--of little Time Lord eggs incubating in your brain.
I'm not listening.
It might not kill you. Perhaps, once the eggs hatched into tiny larval Time Lords, you could expel them through a series of sneezes. Harmless!
He's not, Martha thought furiously, an insect!
He's not, retorted the little voice, a human. So the way I see it, my unlikely fantasy is as good as yours.
Martha considered this. Then, stealthily, she tried to go back to conjuring toe-curling fantasies.
Spores! chirped the voice.
With a disgusted sigh, she gave up.

Date: 2007-06-22 07:19 pm (UTC)And not at all! I was wondering if there were LJ places I could post it, but the dw crack comms I've found all looked kind of dead. Not that I was looking particularly hard, though.

Date: 2007-06-22 09:53 pm (UTC)Yeah, me too (evidently :P). But I must admit, I find the idea of tiny larval Time Lords kind of enchanting. I bet those little Time Grubs would be adorable.

Date: 2007-06-22 10:42 pm (UTC)Could've been worse though. The first thing I think of when people say "alien" and "reproduction" is SPOILER SPOILER thrashing around on the dinner table just before the SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER. (OK, so most people who'd want to see it have seen it, but still). Definitely a passion killer though.

That's just.... that's just.... wow. I love you and would gladly let you lay little Carrie eggs in my head.
"once the eggs hatched into tiny larval Time Lords, you could expel them through a series of sneezes. Harmless!"
Best. Line. EVER.
I don't like Martha being in Love with the Doctor, I think it's silly - especially how she was in love with him by practically the second episode - which means she fell in love with him after, what, half an hour?
To be honest I don't actually like Martha much anyway.
But do you know what I do like?
This drabble.
Yup =D

Yeah... I like Martha, but I'm inclined to agree with you about the whole falling for the Doctor thing; it's pretty much the only thing I dislike about her character. Having her eventually fall in love with him would have been fine--heck, it's practically inevitable--but having her lament that he doesn't seem to like her That Way in the third episode is pushing things a bit, in my opinion.
But I'm glad you liked the drabble. Hee. ^_^
