7 Things That Piss Me Off
1.) The phrase "God works in mysterious ways." Now, I'm not one of those people who think the church is just a crutch for the weak-minded, but this phrase strikes me as something people say when they feel like turning ignorance into something to be smug about. Like, "Not only do I not have an explanation, and not only am I too lazy to look for an explanation, but I'm going to make myself sound like a bigger and better person than you, because I'm holy." Fuck that, and fuck anyone who says this phrase on a regular basis.
2.) People who crack their various bones/joints/whatever. I once sat behind a kid in Practical Grammar and Usage who would sit in his desk and crack what sounded like every damn bone in his body. Repulsive.
3.) Students who mosey four abreast down the hallway. I walk quickly, and I get stuck behind these people more often than I'd care to count. One of these days, my Pedestrian Rage is going to take over. It'll be a bloodbath.
4.) Any commercial that features a beeping alarm clock, especially when the beeping sounds like my alarm clock (and oh, it always does). My poor brain does this lurching double-take, like, "Oh shit, was I sleeping?!" Drives me nuts.
5.) Dr. Rodeheffer.
6.) The Cardinal Staff's unnecessary edits.
7.) My mother's tendency to nag, which only ever makes things worse.

6.) Ginger ale.
7.) Watching hysterically bad movies with friends.
