From what I've been able to gather (from reading threads and whatnot), she was rather abruptly told that she had to choose between amputation and dying. She had some sort of bacterial infection that was bad and spreading quickly. But they won't tell her anything more than that, which is just stupid and would piss me off--was the hospital really dumb enough to put other people with bacterial infections in the fucking OB ward?!
