Aww, yeah!
Oct. 4th, 2009 07:13 pmI am baking brownies. The oven has not exploded yet, so I'm feeling confident! There's no timer, though, so I have to keep checking my watch. There's about ten minutes to go.
The GRSF swankfest was swanky and festive. I think Kacie and I frightened one of last summer's apprentices, and we got to talk to a few actors and composers and suchlike, so it was pretty fun times. We also circled Lake Harriet several times because we were super early, and we saw a raccoon--TWICE. They have no fear, the raccoons by Lake Harriet. We also gawked at the big fancy houses, like the yokels we are. "Look at that one! It's like... Bavarian Majesty." "That one has columns!" "That one isn't even a house; it's a VILLA." We are easily amused.
I think I'm going to eat soup while the brownies cool. And watch something. I watched some "All Creatures Great and Small" in a new effort to actually watch the DVDs that I own, so perhaps I'll indulge in a few more episodes of that.
They still haven't turned the heat on in our building. It's about 65 degrees in the apartment, which I don't think is legal after October 1st... not that our landlords especially care about keeping things legal. I seem to recall them not minding at all that we had nothing but a colorful spew of wiring where our smoke detector should have been. RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU'RE NOT RENEWING YOUR LEASE AGAIN. Tonight: flannel sheets on the bed. Poor Fivey's been following me around all day so he can be in my lap.
