I feel like, with the RTD era, even when the writing was terrible, at least the Doctor still felt like THE DOCTOR at least 90% of the time.

I'll have to check out Big Finish :D Listening to David Tennant talk for a few hours is pretty enticing (main reason I want to find Paul McGann's Eight adventures).
